Hey Guys, has anyone tried running a pair of different maps on a 512kb eprom with a switch to change between them, HI / LO octane sort of thing???

I can get hold of some 512k chips pretty easily, but am not sure if they will work okay, then a friend suggested I try burning two maps and hook up a switch to the extra address pin to swap between them.

Also, what is the slowest speed chip you can run reliably (in nanoseconds)??

thanks
Ben

this has been discussed before, and yes it can be done you can use
the Appender program to add two bins so you can burn them in
a 512k eprom, here is the link for the program:

and you can add spdt switch so can you can switch the address pin from low to high to change the bins.

Hope this helps you

http://www.ecutune.com/multitune.htm

We've made a device to do just what you are asking. It lets you use a 512k ROM and does an address swap to the second half of the ROM when power is sent to the input pin on the adaptor board. We use a power input to do the switching so that it can be switched electrically without a user physically flipping a switch. This allows it to be used as a nitrous oxide system control. You can also use a spst switch like you want in order to switch between tunes for street gas and race fuel, etc. It's a nicely packaged little unit of super high quality and is packaged with wire tipped with a fancy gold sleeve connector, a grommet to run the wire out of the ecu, and domed fender badges.

You can use the appender to save two 256k bins to the 512 ROM if you are using romeditor or something of the like. If you're editing straight hex with a bin editor you can just cut and paste in the bin editor.

I have a couple hundred of these multi-tune adapters in stock. The local tuners I have using them (mostly honda tuners) love them. They really are handy for all kinds of things. I've started listing them for bulk orders directly on the website to make it easier for professional tuners elsewhere to order them. In full sheets of 40 they are only $10 each. I updated the link in the post above to the current web page.
