My ECU severely retards timing when engine is cold (below ~65 degrees), until ~2400rpm.
It idles OK at 15deg, but when I press pedal slighltly, TPS registers that and timing falls to 8 degrees. What does that mean?

I think it's torque reserve agreement strategy.
The goal is not to shake the car when you press the pedal.
Gurus, correct me if I'm wrong |

| still have this - the ECU just sets ~8 degrees when car is under 60 degrees C. Impossible to drive really. Anyone knows how to correct this? |

| Anyone else have this, that ECU retards ignition while warming up, and car looses all power, until 2400 rpm, then ignition is back to normal? |

Hi
I also have this.
Car tends to shake quite a bit when cold and driving below 3000 RPM, but idles fine.
When pressing the pedal hard the engine runs fine, just on light throttle ignition gets retarded very much.
Once the engine is warmed up it runs smooth and fine.
I have a Apexi Multichecker and noticed the retarded timing through this device.

| i remember reading somewhere the car retards timing when the detonation sensor detects severe detonation |

Mine does (did) this also in the warmup phase, it's for light TPs and below a rpm threshold as you mention. That's very disturbing because the car hesitates (mine is pretty advanced once warmep up).
MECD007 does this.
MECD022 doesn't. This is my base program for a long time.
I never pointed out if it's really bin version related or simply lambda sensor behaviour related. _________________ 200SX CA18DET S13 '92.

What's this and how can I have it?
Does that mean that I need to modify my chip?

| thats mean that solution is to use another original nissan chip version, MECD022 instead of ours usual MECD007 as base binary. Than modify/copy all tuned maps to it. This should create same chip like before, but based on MECD022. |

So, that number is stamped over ECU cover, and I should get MECD022, right?
edit: that number is stamped over the EPROM..it's very difficult to find another ecu, because no one will agree to dismantle ECU to check EPROM number _________________ Nissan 200sx S13 CA18DET |
