Hi and Merry Christmans!!
I would like to learn as much as posible about ecu tuning..! Emulators are expensive right? So I think to buy "Dual Powered Willem Universal EPROM Programmer+27C256" from ebay and a UV eprom Eraser!
I need a wideband sensor with rpm controller for tuning my car right?
Can you suggest me one?
I have "ca18det.exe" program! Do you think that is it good for a newbie tuner?
And now some questions about tuning...
I understand that first we make logs of some runs, secone we see where the afr are more or less than 12.5, third we increase or reduce the numbers in the fuel map!
But I have some questions..
Horizontal there are numbers [1...16]
Vertical there are numbers [500..6800]
Vertical show us rpm... horizontal bar what exactly shows? The load I think, right? So the fuel quantity depends of the load and the rpm..!
But how ecu understand the load of car? From the throtle posistion??
So if I make a log with 100% open throtle and I want to add little fuel in 6000 rpm I will increase the number in cell 6000-16?? And if I make logs with 50% throtle position at 6000 rpm and I want to reduce fuel I will reduce the number in 6000-8 ??
If I am lean at 4700-5100 with 100% throtle which cells I will adjust?!?
Also I have no idea with what thinking we adjust timing maps..!!! Anyone can help about this? |

You are right about the rows and colums, however the 0-15 colums are related to the load on the egine or in other words the amount of air coming into your cylinders.
that amount is calculated by the MAF and it give a signal from 0 to 5.1V. in other words, in order to know exactly what cell you need to tune... you need to go in the 6000rpm row.. have the MAF voltage*(5.1/16) it will give you an aproximate cell.
you can acquire the MAF voltage either with a voltmeter(not very precise as it changes real fast) or log the data with a laptop and a consult interface. this will aslo give you more info.
look at this:

your formula is NOT right. you need to have the "k" value in there too. ( and I think maybe RPM? ).
I dont have the right formula on me, but take a look around, and you will find it _________________ 1970 Datsun 1600 CA18DET Project
