best way to decrease lag and increase throttle response ;
increase timing - but lean or richen it up?? |

| retard (example: from 20deg BTDC to 15 deg BTDC) timing and leaning AFR=higher EGT and faster turbo spool up. This can be clearly visible in fuel or timing map in areal of turbo spool up.... |

Enrich fuel and retard timing for the spooling rpms. Do it in small increments. |

ok so retarding the timeing seams that both of you agree, but about the fueling you must come to an agreement, lean it or enrich it ? _________________

you want to enrich the fuel. Here is a typical anti-lag setup in my Haltech

Enritch the fuel, but not to mutch you dont want to runto ritch,it just makes a lot of sot in the engine and oil. retard the timing in the aera where the turbo dont want to spin up
but as the peaople before me has said(( do it in smaal steps))
it is fully possible to get a turbo meltdown if you take this to far

What's the reason behind retarding the ignition timing to get the turbo spooling quicker? Is it so that there is still lots of high-energy expansion of gasses when the exhaust valves open?
How does this affect acceleration during the spool-up period? It would be slower wouldn't it? But then the turbo would wind up faster so you'd be at full boost sooner anyway. |

more of the hot gasses is releast out to the exhaust and turbos, ofcorse this means that less is used to press down the pistons, and tecnical set this means less hp,but if you dont have inough air to make the fuel/air mix to burn correct, you wont get more hp anyway,if you retard the timing and release more heat to the turbos, they will spinn up sooner and make the air needed to create the hp you are looking for, but as soon as turbos are spinning more advanced timing is needed to keep the explosion within the cylinder.
this is why you need to be cairfull , because a retarded ignition meens a hotter exhaust and this can damage the valves and turbos

| great post guys thanks 4 that. car is a shitload better to drive now. still abit off in places however i find it difficult to find which cells to adjust on the map. is there any technique to actually pin point the cells to adjust, if you get what i mean. |
