Nissan ECU Tuning

I need to buy a second ECU so that I can send it off to be socketed so I can start tuning.

I have a U.S. spec N/A 1993 car but I wanted to buy the latest available to take into account any tiny ECU revisions that might have occurred such as resister/cap/PCB changes, etc. Little things that make a difference but never justified an update P/N from Nissan you know.

Because of this I wanted to buy a U.S. spec N/A 1995 ECU since that would be the very last of the OBDI ECU's.

My question: This will be a direct replacement right? As far as I know there were no harness/sensor/pin-out changes between '93 and '95 right?

My side question, lol: Is the only difference between a Turbo ECU and an N/A ECU the tune or are there other differences in regards to the ECU it's self?

Lastly, Does anyone know the P/N for the 1995 ECU so I can try and buy one from Courtesy Nissan or some other source? I'd hate to buy one used and get screwed by the seller and be sending off a bad ECU to be socketed. Plus since 1995, there may be other small updates to the ECU that would be included in a brand new unit straight from Nissan. Anyone know if there are revision or version #'s stamped into the ECU's PCB or on an outside label or something?

1995 NA ecu's are all 16 bit and are much harder and more expensive to modify.

stick with your 1993 ECU and use a later revision rom (if you can find one)

Doesn't that just have to do with the size of the .bin file burned onto the chip and not any changes in the ECU it's self? I think the actual ECU's are the same right?

If they are different, can't I just burn my 8-bit .bin at the correct starting address of a 16-bit or simply convert my 8-bit .bin into a 16-bit .bin file?

No, the hardware is totally different.

Btw, Nissan doesn't rev anything when you buy a 'new' ecu from the dealershipvs getting the same ecu for the same year car from a junkyard.
