ive always thought they had different ecu plugs.. eg, cant plug in a RB20DE ecu into a SERIES 2 RB25DET.. am i correct, because if not, yeeehaa.
secondly, if they dont fit, is much involved to make it fit? |

bump.
from further research - s2 dont have an ignitor pack, its fired from within the ecu.
im thinking it still will work using a tuned rb20det ecu in the series 2 engine/loom with no wiring mods other than VVTi ...
can someone please advise as my engine is ready to be tuned, just need to know what track to go down.
thanks . |

use S2 coils, As far as i can tell the ecu works the same.
A z32 ecu can be used and it will control the nvics system.
wiring changes would include inj & ign driver mods to suit firing order and to reverse the polarity of the steering rack switch.
not sure about the knock sensor wiring as z32 only has one. |

| Hmm, you know how the batch fire works? Maybe they don't need to be changed??? |

I'm pretty sure that the rb20 ecu injects fuel sequencially and only uses batch fire when in limp home mode.
Well the z32 ecu works this way anyway |

I can confirm that using the RB20 ecu with a 25 you must swap the 4 and 6 injector wires.
It seems that some people claim they did not have to do it, yet others do. So I am curious to know what exactly this is from. Is it possible some people are running on 4 cyl and just dont realize it?
My personal experience is from swapping a RB25 into a R32GTST using the stock RB20DET ecu with RB25 code on the chip AND the stock RB20 wiring.
here is the result
If you want to use the RB25 ecu you MUST switch injector 4 and 6
If you want to use the RB20 ecu with the RB20 wiring you leave it alone
If you want to run the RB20 ecu in a car with RB25 wiring, you swap the wires as well |
